A VIP-only announcement tells of a suspicious Chrono Map that sends merchant ships toward a decommissioned resupply station. After warning the ships to turn back, the Master Trader draws the attention of an approaching Ascendancy force.

A map with a dangerous flawIn the announcement’s story, a Chrono Map claims to show the complete route to Asteris, including trade lanes and resupply stations. The Master Trader finds that the old outer routes match Stella’s navigation data, but cannot verify passages deeper into the ruins. Engineering records show that the station marked for the return journey was decommissioned long ago, leaving ships that travel too far at risk of lacking enough fuel to get back. The announcement suggests the map may be an Ascendancy trap made from both truth and falsehood.

A warning brings a new threatThe Master Trader broadcasts a warning to merchant ships bound for the sector, and the first reply confirms a ship is reversing course. As more replies come in, several scanner contacts abruptly change course. The story ends with a large Ascendancy warship force heading toward the Master Trader and a voice asking what else they know.

💬 Lost Chrono Map: The Bait

Dear Master Trader,

A Chrono Map claiming to reveal the “complete route” is circulating among traders.

The coordinates of Asteris, the trade lanes leading there, and the resupply stations along the way—all are marked.

Several merchant ships have already set out.

You cross-check the map against Stella’s navigation data. The old routes through the outer reaches match. The passages deeper into the ruins, however, cannot be verified.

Then you discover something far more dangerous.

According to the engineering records, the resupply station marked for the return journey was decommissioned long ago.

Once those ships venture too far, they may not have enough fuel to return.

This is likely a trap laid by the Ascendancy—a map woven from truth and falsehood, meant to draw out anyone who knows enough to correct it.

You could remain silent.

Let those ships draw your pursuers away.

But you open the public merchant channel.

“That resupply station has been decommissioned. All merchant ships bound for that sector, turn back immediately!”

A moment later, the first reply comes through.

“Warning received. Reversing course.”

More replies follow.

At the same time, several contacts on your scanners abruptly change course.

A large force of Ascendancy warships is heading straight for you.

A calm voice comes over the channel.

“The map said nothing about that station being shut down.”

“What else do you have, Master Trader?”

“We would very much like to know.”
